16 Nov

Great News! I will conducting a Social Media Seminar for Community Organizations on Friday, November 18, 2011.

Title: Community Organizations: Use Social Media to Increase Your Reach

As the “go-to” centers in the community, residents in local and nearby neighborhoods rely on community organizations to provide information, resources and assistance. While their works are known locally, these organizations could expand their reach and results through social media.

In this 3-hour hands-on seminar, Executive Directors, Program Managers, Marketing Specialists, Public Relations Professionals, Communications Professionals and other staff members from Community Organizations will learn:

  • How to get found on the first page of Google using WordPress
  • How to increase your organization’s exposure on blogs, Facebook and Twitter
  • To reach a larger online audience through live blogging events
  • To reduce your social media workload by connecting all social sites

I’m SO Confused! What IS My Brand?

12 Jul

brand of marcie

I had a blast at Blogging While Brown. I learned a lot, met good people…man, it was awesome. Another good thing that came from the conference was a state of confusion. It could be considered a bad thing if it weren’t helpful.

I went to BWB as @thewritedesign but I ended up engaging as @marcie_hill. Although I do much, I am not branded as anything. So, I walked away a big question mark: What is my brand? I said that I was going to work the Brand of Marcie in a previous post. I haven’t done it, which is probably why I’m so confused now.

This is what I came up with.

I am first and foremost a writer. So everything I do falls under the umbrella of Marcie Writes.   The Write Design Company is my business built around writing, blogging and social media.  Shorty: Your Chicago South Side Resource is a site built around community journalism. Thus, I’m implementing my love of writing for my community.

So, my final answer (for now): My brand is Marcie Hill, writer, journalist and blogger/social media enthusiast.
