I recently finished reading Goals! How to Get Everything You Want – Faster Than you Ever Thought Possible by Brian Tracy, and he wrote “All successful people work from written plans.”
It was found that business owners who had completed business plans before they began operations were more likely to succeed even though many never referred back to those plans. “The plan itself was seldom referred to, but the process of thinking through the key elements of the business was vital to their success.”
Tracy further noted that “every minute spent in planning saves ten minutes in execution.”
“The number one reason for failure is action without planning,” which normally results in “unnecessary mistakes and great losses of time, money and energy.”
Now, I’m a planner. I have my business plan that is almost complete and work from daily to-d0 lists. And I won’t even go grocery shopping without a list. I’m still working on my daily menu and fitness journal. Not quite there yet.
So, what’s my point?
Are your plans in writing? Have you been working with thoughts in your head and not on paper? If that’s you, write them down so you can see what you want. And like Mr. Tracy said, you will get everything you want much faster.
What’s been your experience? Have you gotten things you wanted much faster by writing them down?
