The Writing Life of Marcie Hill: It’s Official; I’m Official

Marcie Hill is Official

As I get closer to really working my live blogging service within my target market, there are a few official things I need to make me official.

Of course, capital is one, but faith is still at work here.  There is a little trickle with my cash flow, but not enough to sustain a business. YET.  The two things I need to REALLY be official are an office and employees.

Years ago if someone would have told me I needed an office, I would have gotten scared and came up with 1,001 excuses as to why I didn’t need one.  This time, however, was waaaay different.  When I was told that I had to have my own space on last week, I starting thinking of  people who knew my integrity and my work ethic.  I can’t pay them now; but I will be able to within 90 days.  My reputation is all I have.  One person hasn’t returned my call; the other told me to come in to discuss a nominal fee.  We’ll see what happens with that.

As for employees, I know I want to hire high school and college students.  I also know I need adult professionals that can meet the qualifications I’m seeking.  How do I find these people? Referrals. I connected with the high school program; I have a meeting with a college program coordinator in July.  As for the adults, I’m checking spots where bloggers hang in Chicago.  Almost there?

Not quite.  I have to make sure that the office has enough space for interviewing and training.  Training for my services are required. I’m really particular about the qualifications I’m seeking as well as how to present my services.

I think this is the most thinking I’ve done this week.  Being official is a lot of work, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.  I’m too close to getting my business to take care of me.  Why would I stop now?  Anyway, I’m looking forward to the day when I’m officially official.
